Hello, my name is Samantha Griffen, and I’m a journalism major at San Diego State University who is also studying political science. I’m originally from Orange County, Calif., and love to read, watch movies, and TV shows. My favorite movie is the cult classic Treasure Planet, and I particularly love Morph - the mischievous, shape-shifting sidekick of the cyborg pirate protagonist John Silver. And, as I watch some of my favorite shows, I absolutely love feeding my insatiable sweet tooth with my favorite ice cream, mint-chip.
With my journalism degree, I hope to cover local government and public affairs in the San Diego region. Because of my deep love of politics, I strongly believe in the power of journalism to keep elected officials accountable. At JMS 430, I’d love to become a more well-rounded journalist.
