The response time of officers affects public safety, community trust in the department, and contributes to recruitment issues. San Diego promised a seven minute response time for level one emergencies, whaen in reality they are closer to 14-minute response times. This discrepancy can perpetuate problems that could have had a simpler solution had there been a quicker response. This discrepancy will be made worse in areas that receive a higher volume of calls. It will increase the demand for officers in a time where recruitment is seeing many lows.
